Who We Are

After over 11 years of creating entertaining toys for our own menagerie of birds, we started bird toy production for the public in February 2010.

We have recently relocated to Kanata, Ontario - down the street from where the Ottawa Senators play hockey!

I completed the Veterinary Assistant course with high honours at Sheridan College back in 1998, and decided to venture not into a veterinary clinic, but a large chain pet store to work directly with the "exotic" animals - fish, reptiles, small animals, and BIRDS.  It was there that I decided that Avians were such an incredible and unique species of animal, that I needed to indulge my thirst for learning and hands on practice via books and getting my first bird - Adonis, the white-faced cockatiel.

Less than 6 months later, I met my breeder friend's African Grey parrot, and decided to take the plunge into parrothood.  Merlin came home to me at 6 weeks of age in March 1999.  It was his picky nature that led me to start creating my own bird toys at home for both myself & my Avian friends.

I worked with birds for 5 years before I finally had to give in my super hero cape for a business suit and computer.  During that 5 years, I bred & raised my own cockatiels, nurtured parrots back to health, educated bird parents (or soon-to-be bird parents) and my staff, attended the Southern Ontario Parrot Symposium religiously, hand fed hundreds upon hundreds of baby parrots from cockatiels to Hyacinth Macaws, and immersed myself in my passion.

Now the passion is back in full force. I have met the Avian community within Ottawa and around North America - and it's been such a positive and welcoming experience being able to work with people to find out what they want and which toys suit their feathered family members best.

Each toy is hand crafted upon demand, wood pieces are all hand dyed with bird friendly dye, all wood is cut on and holes drilled on premises. We take pride in our workmanship, and are always open to new ideas, suggestions and questions from our clientèle.

Happy shopping!

Crystal, James, Merlin, Stryder, and Rosco

Merlin

Merlin is our African Grey parrot.  He was born in February 1999, and is very well socialized with people, and he has very good timing when it comes to his sense of humour.

Merlin's current favourite toys are "Aw Nuts!" and "Shipwreck."

Stryder

Picture
Stryder is our white faced Cockatiel, hatched in January 2004.  He loves his morning "hugs" and has an awesome belly laugh.

Stryder's current favourite toys are "The Scavenge" and "Zanie's Ladder."

Rosco

Rosco is our Caique parrot, hatched in October 2006. Rosco's favourite activity is eating - fruit, nuts, veggies, or pasta.  He has a lot of energy, and really is the life of the party.

Rosco's current favourite toys are "Witch Brew" and "Animal Crackers."
